NEW additions and updates for our CSMFO Conference

By Marcus Pimentel, CSMFO Communication Chair and Assistant Director of Health (Santa Cruz County)

Our 2020 Conference is breaking ground on several new fronts and we’re your one-stop source to keep you updated on the latest valuable editions to your experience.

  1. NEW-Free sessions – We’ve expanded our conference to a full day on Wednesday with the addition of “free” bonus general sessions starting at 8:30am. Partly due to requests from prior conference feedback and partly due to the record level of proposals we received for session, we’ve decided to add a full bonus morning for our early arrivals. While this adds more cost to our conference, it is something the CSMFO Board and Host Committee is proud to deliver.
  2. NEW- Pickleball registration open – As we covered on Friday’s CSMFO News feed, Pickleball has been added to our Tuesday Bank of the West 9th Annual Tennis Mixer. Pickleball is a growing sport mixing ping-pong (table tennis), badminton, and tennis. Registration for Bank of the West’s mixer is limited so act fast.
  3. NEW- Virtual steps challenge teaser – The 2020 Host Committee, in partnership with the Fun Subcommittee, is finalizing details on a virtual steps challenge and how they might inspire everyone to participate. While we often host morning 5k style runs at our Conference, we felt a 5:30am start following our Wednesday night and early Thursday am special event might be a challenge for some. More details to come.
  4. Doing the right thing – Knowing the right thing to do is not that hard. Doing the right thing in the face of pressure to do the wrong thing – or at least look the other way – can be very hard
In these times when decisions are micro-managed in hindsight by the press and public, it is even more critical to invest in yourself by getting key tips on how to create a culture of living ethics. CSMFO is proud to have Harvard Business School faculty member Mary C. Gentile, PhD leading our Tuesday Pre-Conference afternoon session “Doing the Right Thing When it is Hard: Living Your Ethics in Tough Situations.” To sign up, go to our “Registration is Open” menu within our conference homepage.
  5. Yoga Friday – If you might be looking for a relaxing way to end our CSMFO conference and prepare for the stresses of traveling in SoCal, then our Friday morning Yoga class is for you. No yoga experience necessary. Just bring a mindful and grateful attitude and comfortable gear. More details to come including how to hold your spot.
  6. Wednesday PRIVATE after-hours park event; GET-R-DONE – CSMFO has partnered with Disneyland’s Cars Land to provide a unique and private after-hours experience. From racing on Radiator Springs Racers (one of Disney’s top rides) to Mater’s Jamboree or Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, there is a ride for everyone. In addition, drive up to the Cozy Cones for unlimited food and beverage options or enjoy one of the many “bonus” experiences in Cars Land.

Details are still being finalized but this “don’t miss” private access could extend past mid-night.

In November, we’ll provide a deeper “drive” into this event, along with more details about our conference, including the schedule of all our general sessions.
